Whether you’re brand new to hand embroidery, want to add some new stitches to your repertoire, or want to learn a new way to create a petite portable sewing project this class is for you!
In this hands on workshop we’ll cover a range of foundational hand embroidery stitches while creating a scroll style stitch sampler.
While the workshop flow is often dictated by the interest of the group, some of the techniques we’ll cover include:
⁃ Foundational stitches such as running stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, chain stitch, satin stitch, whip stitch, and French knots
⁃ Advanced stitches such as herringbone stitch and couching
⁃ How to achieve good tension
⁃ Elevating simple stitches with yarns and ribbon
⁃ When and how to use variegated threads
All work will be done in the hand without a hoop. And instruction will be given for both left and right handed stitchers.
Materials: Fabric and wooden dowel included with class. You will need to purchase embroidery needle and floss/thread - available from Noma Knits.
