Workshop: Very Visible Mending for Knitwear - Celebrate the wear in what you wear

In this hands-on workshop, we'll explore the art and practicality of visible mending - a beautiful, sustainable way to give your favorite knit garments new life. Whether you're patching a well-loved sweater or reinforcing the heels of cherished socks, this session will guide you through thoughtful repair techniques that highlight - rather than hide - the history of your clothing.

What you'll learn:

  • Practical methods for mending fabrics
  • How to asses damage and choose the best repair approach
  • Woven darning techniques and their many uses
  • The role of fiber content in repair and garment care
  • How to make mending both functional and decorative

We'll begin with a demonstration of core techniques, followed by hands-on time to apply what you've learned to your own knit item, with personalized guidance throughout.

This workshop is for anyone who:

  • Cherishes their knitwear and handmade garments
  • Values sustainability and reducing textile waste
  • Finds joy in detail, handwork, and visible craftsmanship

Materials: Embroidery needles - available from Noma Knits. You are welcome to bring in a personal item to mend but you can also practice your awesome new skills on second hand fabrics provided in class.
