In this 2-hour class you will learn how to Doodle! Doodles are individual colorwork patterns to mix and match into a base pattern. For example, add hearts and sheep to a hat pattern or flowers to a cowl. In this class we will cover in detail the four steps to Doodle with yarn. We will also cover tips and tricks for knitting stranded colorwork.
Before Class you will get started on the first three steps.
1) Pick a base pattern from the pamphlets available in the shop
For this class choose a base pattern that calls for DK or worsted weight yarn.
2) Pick one or more colorwork patterns to add to your base pattern.
3) Pick your base yarn color and at least one contrasting yarn color in the base pattern yarn weight. The yarn should be DK or worsted weight.
Recommendations: If this is your first time knitting stranded colorwork, avoid small diameter base patterns like socks and instead opt for a beanie or a cowl.
Class Materials: Bring your base pattern, at least one colorwork pattern (Doodle Decks available here), at least two different yarn colors and the circular needle called for in the base pattern. In addition, bring 15 stitch markers. You are highly encouraged to start the base color portion of the project. For example, if you choose the beanie base pattern, you can go ahead and knit the brim.
Please purchase class materials from Noma Knits
Yarn requirements: See your chosen base pattern for yarn requirements.
Class prerequisites: This is a beginner friendly class, but it is not a class that teaches you how to knit. It is recommended for those experienced with the knit stitch, purl stitch and knitting in the round.
