Fixing Mistakes Class

Learn to fix your knitting mistakes! This 2-hour class is a deep dive into the knit and purl stitch. You'll learn how to pick up dropped stitches in both stockinette and garter stitch.  You'll also learn ways to prevent mistakes from happening in the first place by identifying twisted stitches, adding ‘lifelines’ and utilizing stitch markers. The overall goal of the class is to help you ‘read’ your knitting as you go and give you greater confidence in your knitting skills.

Pre-Class Homework:  Knit (2) swatches a minimum of 3” x 3” in light colored DK or worsted weight yarn. The first swatch should be in stockinette stitch - knit the front side, purl the back side. The second swatch should be in garter stitch - knit both sides. Do not bind off the swatches! Both swatches should still be on the needles.

Class Materials:

  • Two completed swatches, still on the needles.
  • Three additional DP’s (double pointed needles) in the same size used for swatches OR a circular needle.
  • Crochet hook in a similar or smaller size than the knitting needles.
  • Removable stitch markers, darning needle and a writing utensil.
  • Yarn requirements:
  • DK or worsted weight yarn in two contrasting colors.  You will use less than 50 yards total for this class.

Class prerequisites: This is a beginner friendly class, but it is not a class that teaches you how to knit.  You will need to make two swatches prior to the class in stockinette and garter stitch as described above.
