Intarsia is a colorwork knitting method perfect for blocks of multiple colors, large scale motifs or any single image you would like to ‘paint’ into your knitting project.
In this 2.5-hour class you'll learn how to knit intarsia flat while knitting the Watercolor Cowl by Kaffe Fassett. We'll also introduce color theory for selecting multiple colors, options for managing yarn with intarsia, weaving in ends, blocking your cowl, the mattress stitch for seeming and adding an I-cord edge.
The Watercolor Cowl pattern is available on Ravelry or in the shop in the booklet Modern Daily Knitting Field Guide No. 16: Painterly.
Prior to the class, you will need to purchase the pattern and select two main colors from Sandness Garn Double Sunday or Sandness Garn Alpakka Ull. This pattern can use anywhere from 1 to 14 additional colors. The shop sample cowl uses a light and dark green for the main colors and five additional colors for the little squares. Included in the fee for this class are 10 yards each of five colors from the Sandness Garn Double Sunday or Alpakka Ull product lines. You can select your five colors before or during the class.

(4) 109-yard skeins of Sandness Garn Double Sunday or Alpakka Ull yarn. Two in a light color, Two in a dark color.
(1)-(14) additional colors of yarn for center boxes – Five colors of 10 yards each is included in your class fee.
Class prerequisites: This is an intermediate class. You will need to know how to cast on and complete the standard knit and purl stitches.
