Socks 101!
Learn to knit your first pair of socks! This class will take place over two 2 hour classes. You will be introduced to sock yarns, sock construction and sock fit all while knitting the ‘Weekend Shorty Socks’ by Summer Lee. This free pattern is available on Ravelry at the link provided below. You can knit these socks in one color or with contrast colors (CC’s) on the cuff, heel and toe.
Class Materials: Purchase super wash sock weight yarn in one main color (MC). You will need 300 yards of the MC for socks in all one color or 200 yards of the MC if you are also using CC’s.
For contrast colors on the cuff, heel and toe, you can purchase two or six contrast colors. You will need 30 yards each of two contrast colors or 10 yards each of six contrast colors.
It is highly recommended that you choose light or bright colors for this project. Black, dark navy or highly marled yarn will make it more difficult to see your stitches.

Class Tools: One set of US 1 (2.25 mm) double pointed (DP) needles. In addition, you will use stitch markers, a darning needle and a writing utensil.
If you are familiar with the ‘magic loop’ method of knitting in the round, you also have the option of using a 24” long circular needle in size US 1(2.25mm) instead of the DP needles.
*Please purchase materials from Noma Knits
Class prerequisites: This is a beginner friendly class, but it is not a class that teaches you how to knit. It is recommended for those experienced with the knit stitch and purl stitch.
